Linux Core Virtual Appliances

Linux Core Network Host

This part contains Qemu, VirtualBox and VMware images of the Core Linux. Depending on installed extensions,  images can be used used either as a network host or a Layer 3 switch. Thanks to this enhancement Linux Core network host can measure throughput, simulate, capture and filter network traffic. Similarly, the image with installed OpenvswitchQuagga and Bird extensions can be used for learning routing and switching under Linux.

  1. Hi,

I'm having some routeing issues. When everything is up and running my statis routes work fine but after I reboot the network none of my routes work. Only after I ping in between routers do the static routes start working. I guess its an issue with the zebra deamon and if so how do I configure it to autostart.

My best and thanks for the VMs

  2. Hi,
I'm having trouble with static routes on Quagga. They won't work until I start ping in between my routers. I think I'm having trouble with the zebra deamon and its not on autostart. Is there a how to online or do you have any suggestions?

My best and thanks for the VMs.

    1. Hello Sebastian,
as for Core (Tinycore) Linux, startup scripts are placed in /opt/bootlocal/sh. I am pretty sure that you find zebra there.
As Core is running from RAM, you need to say to Core what you want to save (/opt/.filetool.lst) and to the image and when (/usr/bin/filetool.sh -b). However, if you save your config with the command /usr/bin/filetool.sh -b but your static routes won't appear in a routing table after reboot and neighbors are reachable there is something wrong with zebra.
